The Israelites find themselves imprisoned and afraid for their life in Isaiah 51. It is at that moment that the Lord speaks to them and states I—I am the one who comforts you. Who are you that you should fear humans who die, or a son of man who is given up like grass? If God is who he says he is there is no reason to fear. Why is that they were still afraid? God explains it to them But you have forgotten the Lord, your Maker, who stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth. They are afraid because they have forgotten what God has done for them in the past. Instead of being afraid, the Christian should look to the past to see where God has provided and how he will do so in the future. God loves his people too much to let them live in fear.
